KL Video Player |
The KLVideoPlayer is a standalone version of the same Flash video player that is on the web site. This allows you to download the full versions of the video files and play them back from your hard drive, at any time, without being connected to the internet and without any "buffering" issues.
Download it now (v1.0.0.5, with videos.xml, rev 17-Nov-05 - see below for newer videos.xml list):

Videos List (XML)
Download the latest "Videos List" (videos.xml, rev 23-Jan-2007) - note: this file is NEWER than the version included in the above 1.0.0.5 version, so you need to download it if you download the above.

Installation Instructions
After you unzip or unstuff the file, you will have a folder on your hard drive named "KLVideoPlayer". Within the folder is the application, and two other folders. The folder named "text" has some XML files in it that populate the videos list and handle some text display issues. The folder named "vid" is the important one - this is where you put the video files that you download, so that the player can play them back.
Inside the "vid" folder are three other folders - "hi", "md", "lo" - these three folders correspond to the quality version of the videos that you download. If you download all of the "hi" quality videos, you simply put them in the "hi" folder, and the player will find them when they are selected from the video list. Likewise, if you download the medium or low quality videos, put them in the corresponding "md" or "lo" folder.
When you select an item in the KLVideoPlayer's videos list, it looks for the video according to name and quality type inside the correct folder - so do not change the names of any of the video files or folders after you download them. (Flash videos have the extension ".flv", so an example video name is "Citadel-hi.flv" - this one goes in the "vid/hi" folder.)
You do NOT need to download all of the videos - only the ones that interest you. If a video is in the list and you did not download it, it will simply display "Media File not located" when you click on it.
Furthermore, if you are comfortable with such things, you can edit the "videos.xml" file in the "text" folder to remove the videos you don't want in the list, with any text-editing program. Make a copy first, in case you screw it up and need to go back! Once you edit the file, you need to quit and relaunch the KLVideo Player application.

Updating to a newer version of the KLVideoPlayer
The KLVideoPlayer will be updated from time to time as improvements and additions are made to it. The latest version can always be downloaded from the link above.
Finding the version number:
The version of the video player can be found by holding the mouse over the Karma Lab logo in the lower right corner. For example, currently it is "1.0.0.5". As the player is improved and more features added, you will be able to download a new version from the link above.
To update your KLVideoPlayer, download the latest file above (which will create a new "KLVideoPlayer" on your hard drive), and simply move the "vid" folder and all of the downloaded videos it contains from the old "KLVideoPlayer" folder to the new "KLVideoPlayer" folder, replacing the empty default "vid" folder. If you have made any changes to the text files in the "text" folder, move and replace that folder also.

Updating to a new version of the Videos List (XML)
When a new video is released, a text file (XML actually) is changed to include the new video's title, description, etc. All you have to do is download the file from the link above, un-stuff or un-zip it, and place it inside the "text" folder inside the "KLVideoPlayer" folder on your computer, replacing the other videos.xml file. If you have edited that file for any reason, you will want to incorporate the changes in the new one to your edited version, rather than replace it.
